Wilbur’s Travels – an Angel on the Mount

Today was all about Mont-Saint-Michael Abbey. Never was I so glad ta be in tha backpack – sooo many steps ta get ta tha top an then She decided a guided tour would be a grand idea. It actually was but don’t tell anyone I said so!

approach

Here is a photo of tha ‘island’ with tha Abbey at tha top. There are shops an bars an restaurants, as well as hotels, around tha bottom.  The golden statue of St Michael stands at tha top of tha spire.

looking out

Here ia a photo from tha battlements lookin out to sea. Tha tide was out so it was all muddy stuff.  Ya may wonder about there bein battlements an tha like, but tha French knights had ta defend it from the British durin the 100 year war.
I feel a Monty Python skit comin on ……. save me someone!

lookin

Lookin out from tha top at tha causeway everyone has ta use now, I hear the crazy hoomans decide ta stay an watch the tide come in. Starts at 7pm an finishes at 9pm – an it’s only 5pm! I’m cold now an I have a furry little butt!
Freezin, they wait for tha ‘dramatic tidal wave’ ta appear. What they get is a slow creep of water – hahaha, glad I was stuffed back in tha bag.

sunset

Afta freezing for what seemed like forever, they left at 8pm an tha tide was just reachin  tha mountain. She did get at least a coupla good photos though.

Catch up with ya all tomorrow. Don’t know where so it’s a mystery.
