Wilbur’s Travels – tapestries and clay

After a nice rest day yesterday, it was time ta visit tha famous 70 metre Bayeux Tapisserie (or Tapestry if ya prefer). tapastryI got ta meet a couple of tha folks from history – again they were tha silent type.

She learnt about William tha Conqueror in English school but I never knew this old stuff (afta all, I didn’t go ta wombat school or anything).

the conqueror

There was William himself sittin on his throne, scepter in hand an his crown on his head. I asked if it was all worth it in tha end with all tha fightin an killin an stuff, he took so long ta think of an answer She had already taken me ta tha next bloke.

writing

An odd lookin fellow with a feather pen and an ice cream cone full of ink! He was writin stuff in fancy twirly looking letters. Must have been important tha way he was concentratin. He had a funny haircut like his mum used a puddin basin and then cut tha middle all off. Poor bloke, bet tha ladies laughed an pointed.

Next was a quick trip ta tha Normandy beaches ta see tha landin site. There was a ceremony goin on with a lot of older English men with lotsa medals goin inta tha museaum. One was gettin anotha medal. I didn’t want ta have my photo ona big gun cause I’m a passsift…. pashifu…. I don’t like guns. Wombats like ta dig in an defend with our bony plated butts.

by all

They all finished tha day playin about with clay. The Potterie de Villedieu is owned by a lovely French lady and her English husband (well he became French), both potters for a long time.

A slab vase, a hedgehog an a thrown pot each. Glazes on tomorrow.

pizza

Just 2 doors down, tha Limpro ‘vista provided delicious pizza for dinner. As usual I was stuffed in tha back pack but She let me out ta have a look at them. I don’t eat meat so I went back inta the bag.

Hope ya all enjoyin my little blog tales, won’t be long an we’ll be in Paris and then home! Might need a holiday ta recover.

Bye for now, see ya all tomorrow.
